Welcome to Brugger's
Doodles and Poodles
Exciting News!
We had AKC Mini Poodles born on December 16th, Petite Mini Goldendoodles born January 5, and Mini Goldendoodles born on January 19th!
Why Doodles?
1. Hypoallergenic - Doodles typically shed very little and are recommended for families with allergies, or those who don't want to mess with constant dog hair. 2. Healthy - Poodles have fewer health issues than many other AKC breeds. Additionally the hybrid vigor which results from out-cross breeding means that Doodles are typically healthy dogs. 3. Intelligent - Poodles are one of the smartest and easiest to train dog breeds. Crossing a Poodle with another breed almost always makes a smarter puppy. 4. Cute - Many families like the teddy-bear look of Doodle Puppies. They're super snuggly too! 5. Friendly - Families looking for a loving companion for their family are often pleased with owning a doodle. Dogs are a great blessing for children! What is the difference between an F1 and F1B?
F1 translates as a first time cross between breeds. Being equal parts Poodle and Golden Retriever/IrishDoodle, you typically expect to have strong genetics and health in your puppy because you are pulling genes from both breeds for the very first time. F1 Doodles typically don’t shed or if they do shed, shedding is usually light. As a whole, Doodles are compatible with most families with mild allergies. The F1 Doodle is often associated with a shaggy or wavy fur coat with less defined curls. This is due to the long straight hair of the Golden Retriever/Irish Setter which is 50% of your F1 Doodles genetics. The “B” in F1B Doodle stands for what is knows as a “back cross”. A Back Cross is where you breed an F1 Doodle and then breed it back to a Poodle. This back cross breeding method results in the F1B Doodle being 3/4 Poodle and 1/4 Golden Retriever or Irish Setter when looking at genetics. As I mentioned above, because the F1B Doodle is 3/4 Poodle, they are typically better for families with moderate to severe allergies. While no dog is 100% Hypoallergenic, the F1B Doodle would be a good place to start your research and evaluation if you want to add a dog to a family that suffers from allergies. The Fur Coat of an F1B is associated with a lot more curls. They are often tighter curls that resemble the fur coat of a Poodle. More Poodle DNA=less shedding. |
What do we do?
A frequent question we are asked is what is included with our puppies. We aren’t just handing over a puppy on pickup day. We have always strived to go above and beyond. I wanted to take a minute to explain a little of what we do. There is so much more that goes along with raising a puppy, but these are the highlights.
💩 At the 2 week mark we start working on their potty area. Most barely have their eyes open and start learning where they are to eat and sleep and where they are to potty. They want to keep their sleeping area clean!
🐾 Up to this point we have mainly been working on touch with the puppies. Making sure they are touched frequently is an important start to training and even grooming.
👂 At 3-4 weeks their ears start to open so we will expose them to some different sounds and textures. This is all so they don’t panic when exposed to something loud or weird feeling later on.
We continue all of this training all the way until they go to their new homes.
🌳 🛌 At 7 weeks we start working on pottying outside and crate training. I don’t want my puppies first night in their new homes to be the first time they are ever in a crate. That would be scary! We start this process with their siblings and momma nearby so the transition is easier on them.
🏡 At 8 weeks we transition them to their forever family. I send all of my puppies home with 30 days of health insurance from Trupanion. They have all been vet checked and cleared before going to their new homes. They are already microchipped as well. I send a Snuggle Puppy home along with a “stinky blanket” to help with those first few nights. I send home a bag of food and a couple doses of probiotic to help as nervouse belly. I also send home all the information on training, grooming, and caring for your new puppy.
📧 All of my families have lifetime breeder support. If you have a question, ask me! I will try to help you! We have had a ton of dogs in our lifetime and I can generally help you or point you in the right direction.
📰 I also LOVE updates of our babies! We are so invested in their first 8 weeks we remember them all even as they get a new name and a new look as they grow up.
